Last weekend our team visited the birthplace of one of our colleagues, in Székelykeve, Serbia. Székelykeve (Skorenovac) is located 46 kilometers South-East of Belgrade.
The majority of original settlers were Székely Hungarians. Even today Skorenovac is the most Southern place with Hungarian national majority (over 80 percent).
The festival takes place in Skorenovac every October. This time numerous teams from Serbia, Romania, Hungary and other countries cooked traditional Hungarian meals and competed to win the prize. The main goal was however not the prize but to attract people from different countries and nationalities to get familiar with the Hungarian cuisine, drinks, language, traditions, culture and hospitality.
Our team cooked chicken paprikas with noodles "LEG style" which turned out to be a great success among the visitors. By the end of the day the huge pot we used (90 servings) became completely empty. The LEG team was awarded a certificate of participation for the successful completion of the challenge.
Besides the unexpected success, we enjoyed the trip and were happy to see how Hungarians and other nationalities had a wonderful time together while enjoying the lively and exciting atmosphere of the festival. We look forward to returning next year.
